Tourists invade northern Morocco
Northern Morocco remains a destination of choice for national tourists during this summer season. Good news for hoteliers, cafe owners and restaurateurs in the region who want this dynamic to be maintained until the end of summer.
With its natural landscapes and its multiple tourist attractions, Northern Morocco has been chosen by several Moroccan families to spend their summer vacations. This craze for seaside destinations in the North, despite the high cost of accommodation, delights hoteliers, cafe owners, restaurateurs and professional tourism players in the region who hope that the situation will not change until the end of summer.
Since the beginning of August, tourist accommodation establishments in the region’s main seaside resorts have been fully booked, which will allow them to regain financial health after two years of health crisis linked to Covid-19. This influx of tourists in the North is the result of promotional operations carried out by the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (CRT-TTA), with the support of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), in order to stimulate the resumption of tourism.

These charming operations have made it possible to highlight the tourist potential of the Nordic coastal areas which contribute significantly to the tourist revenues of the region and even the kingdom. It is thanks to these actions that the beaches of Al Hoceima were stormed by tourists, well before the Eid al-Adha festival. Chefchaouen has also attracted national tourists and MREs with its beautiful wild beaches, including Stehat, and its mythical mountain and seaside landscapes.
The main seaside towns in the North have benefited from major tourist infrastructure projects to strengthen the attractiveness of the region. This is the case of Tanja Marina Bay in Tangier. Other cities such as Tetouan and Al Hoceima will also benefit from major infrastructure projects, namely: the “integrated economic and urban development program of Tetouan” and “Al Hoceima, Manarat Al Moutawassit”.
