
Marrakech: 15% increase in overnight stays during the first quarter of 2018
The number of nights in classified hotel establishments in Marrakech recorded an increase of 15% during the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.
According to statistics communicated by the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Marrakech, the number of nights in classified hotel establishments amounts, during January-March, to 1,871,376 nights compared to 1,621,613 nights recorded during the same period of 2017.
Arrivals showed during the same period, the same upward trend with 605,887 arrivals compared to 506,653 arrivals during January-March 2017, an increase of 20%.
The average length of stay was 3 nights, the same duration as during the same period last year.
The occupancy rate during January-March 2018 rose to 54% compared to 47% during the same period of 2017.
Regarding the month of last March, the number of nights recorded an increase of 17% going from 649,184 nights in March 2017 to 757,167 nights in March of the current year.
Arrivals showed the same upward trend with 20% going from 201,922 arrivals in March 2017 to 242,862 arrivals in March 2018.
The average length of stay reached 3 nights, the same duration as in the same period of last year, while the month of March 2018 saw a rate occupancy of around 63%.
