Opening of the 13th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival
The 13th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) opened on Friday evening at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech
Like every year, the opening ceremony of this major event of national and world cinema was marked by the presence of numerous personalities from different backgrounds, particularly from the world of the 7th art and culture.
During this ceremony, the members of the jury, chaired by the famous American director Martin Scorsese, were invited to announce the official opening of this 13th edition of the FIFM, each in their original language.
The FIFM 2013 puts 15 feature films from around the world in competition to win the “Golden Star”. Also on the program, a short film competition intended for students of Moroccan cinema institutes and schools, the jury of which is chaired by Moroccan director Nour Eddine Lakhmari.
The organizers have decided to celebrate the cinematography of Scandinavian countries this year, after having honored Hindi cinema last year on the occasion of its centenary, and many other cinematographic experiences before, thus consecrating the tradition of opening the festival to world cinemas.
Scandinavian fiction then comes to Marrakech, with no less than 34 films which will be screened and discussed by the community of artists and critics of the seventh art.
