Mpox: Siga Technologies will provide its treatment to Morocco

This contract was signed following a request from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, aimed at strengthening the country’s preparation for a possible Mpox epidemic, Siga Technologies said in a press release.

According to the same source, Tecovirimat, already approved in the United States, Canada and the European Union, is also used in Africa as part of clinical trials and the emergency access protocol of the World Health Organization (WHO). This agreement marks an important milestone, as it is the first commercial sale of TPOXX by SIGA on the African continent. Victor Gomes, Vice President of International Markets at Siga, expressed his satisfaction with this collaboration: “We remain committed to expanding our global presence to ensure patients have access to TPOXX. We are proud to provide access to this antiviral therapy in Morocco as a potential treatment in response to the global Mpox outbreak and thank the Ministry of Health for its strong collaboration towards rapid delivery of the drug to ensure that the Moroccan population is prepared. »
