
Automotive: Marrakech hosts the first stage of the FIA WTCC world championship
Renamed Afriquia Race of Morocco, the Moroccan round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship will be held, from April 7 to 9, on the Circuit Moulay El Hassan in the ocher city where Moroccan driver Mehdi Bennani will be a serious contender for the world title at the wheel of his Sébastien Loeb Racing Citroën C-Elysée.
Official sponsor of this Moroccan stage, Afriquia and its historic official partners BMCE Bank of Africa, Wafa Assurance, and Renault have renewed their action with this automobile event.
Note that the Marrakech weekend is one of the most popular races of the Championship with a television audience of 62,361 million viewers around the world in 2016.
WTCC AFRIQUIA RACE OF MOROCCO is the first of 10 World Touring Car Championship weekends for 2017 with visits to Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East planned between April and December. Mehdi Bennani won the WTCC TROPHY independents’ title last season, and claimed his first overall triumph at the 2016 finale race in Qatar.
