The festival, dedicated to lovers of travel and discovery, will take place in Tangier from November 9 to 12. The 2nd edition of the international Ibn Battuta festival, organized by the Moroccan Ibn Battuta association, will be organized around the theme: « travelers, ambassadors of peace ».

The theme chosen for this edition is « the opportunity to promote the culture of travel which represents an engine of peace throughout the world. The festival also encourages travelers to play the role of ambassadors of peace and to better understand cultural diversity in the world », indicate the organizers in a press release.

« Morocco presents itself as the ideal country for this type of cultural events and even more so Tangier, a city whose location is strategic, known for the coexistence of different cultures that exist there », they add.

This event will welcome people from all over the world, engaged in different significant discoveries and wishing to maintain the literary legacy of Ibn Battuta.

The president of the association, Aziz Benami, said in a press release that this event is « an excellent opportunity to shed light on the travels and adventures of Ibn Battuta and to present the ideas that he developed during his travels and which transmit values such as wisdom and courage, which make him an exceptional character. »

The four-day program of the festival includes a series of social and cultural activities such as thematic conferences, carnival parades, screenings, exhibitions…etc.

Founded in 2015, the Moroccan association of Ibn Battuta was created by tourism professionals and lovers of Moroccan cultural heritage. It is the first global association created and dedicated to promoting the « prince of travelers » Ibn Battuta, his journeys, his travels and his life.
