Recalling that Brazil has become the 5th economic power in the world with a potential of 6.5 million travelers at the end of 2013, Haddad affirmed that this Latin American country is a market with high potential for the Moroccan tourist destination with an average growth of +23% between 2009 and 2013.

“However, the interest in the Brazilian market is not new, because this market has been integrated for 25 years into the Moroccan tourism vision given the good relations that exist between Brazil and Morocco on the cultural, political, economic and social levels,” noted the minister.

And to continue: “tourist flows from Brazil recorded growth of +70% in 2013 with 25,639 tourists. This increase can be explained by the massive arrivals recorded during the month of December linked to the “Club World Cup due to the presence of the Brazilian team Atletico Mineiro”. Haddad also insisted on the positive impact of the opening of the Royal Air Maroc direct Casablanca-São Paulo airline since November 2013 with two frequencies per week.

“The figures also show, at the end of September, an overall increase in air travel of 48%, or 13,804 pax for Casablanca-Mohammed V airport with 5,371 arrivals, or +91%; Marrakech-Menara 6,948 arrivals, an increase of 26% (the Lisbon hub plays a major role with the direct TAP Portugal Lisbon-Marrakech line),” he said.

In terms of co-marketing, Haddad returned to partnerships negotiated with the ten major TOs in Brazil. Educational tours were also organized in terms of promotion for the benefit of Brazilian journalists and operators to attract between 60,000 to 80,000 Brazilian tourists in the medium term.

“To achieve this, the Ministry of Tourism is working to accelerate the development of the cultural and seaside offerings, highly sought after by Brazilian tourists. The opening of an on-site representation in Brazil was decided in 2013 and administrative, legal, financial, logistical and technical procedures are underway to provide Morocco with an on-site delegation,” concludes the minister.
