The Italian Gabriele Tarquini, member of the « BRC Racing Team » won the first race of the « FIA WTCR Race of Morocco 2018 », contested on Saturday, at the Moulay El Hassan circuit in Marrakech.
Swedish driver Thed Bjork (Hyundai i30 N TCR1) occupied 2nd position in the final ranking, followed in third position by Briton Rob Huff (Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR).
The Moroccan, Mehdi Bennani (Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR) achieved a good result during this first race, placing fifth in the general classification. A ranking that fits with its objectives of improving its ranking in this world touring car championship.
Retaining most of the rounds from the last WTCC season, the 2018 calendar includes ten rounds made up of three races each, making thirty races over the season.
