Festival dedicated to documentaries: Casa/Docks is back
Casa/Docks, the festival dedicated to cinematic documentaries, is back. Created in partnership with the creative studio Lioumness, this weekly cultural event takes place every Monday at 7 p.m. at the ABC cinema in Casablanca for screenings and debates with directors and actors from civil society.
For this month of January, Casa/Docks offers three cyclical themes: “Mirror of Morocco”, “Reflections on the world” and “We are all refugees”. These will be illustrated by the screening of three documentaries. Monday January 9 will be devoted to the screening of the film “Shakespeare in Casablanca” by Sonia Terrab. This director and writer tells the story of a young theater troupe who are preparing Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and taking the opportunity to question themselves and the whole city about love and its language… A living portrait, full of humor and hope of the unloved Casa, carried by an inspired youth.
Monday January 16 will be dedicated to the screening of the film “Human” by Yann Arthus Bertrand. Indeed, Human is a diptych of stories and images from our world offering an immersion into the depths of the human being. Through testimonies filled with love, happiness, but also hatred and violence.“From the smallest everyday story to the most incredible life stories, these poignant encounters of rare sincerity highlight what we are, our darkest part but also what is most beautiful and most universal in us.”
Finally, the last Monday of this month will be reserved for the screening of the film. “Ceuta, Douce Prison” by Jonathan Millet and Loïc H. Rechi. This film follows the trajectories of five migrants in the occupied presidencia of Sebta, in the north of Morocco. They left everything to try their luck in Europe and found themselves locked in an open-air prison, at the gates of the Old Continent. They live torn between the hope of obtaining a “pass” and the fear of being deported to their country. The film is shot in total proximity to the characters, without voice-over, without camera address, in immersion in their daily life.
