
Agadir: 20.42% increase in the number of tourist nights in the 1st quarter of 2017
The number of tourist nights in Agadir recorded, in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of 20.42% (+167 thousand 96 tourist nights) compared to the similar period of 2016.
Tourist nights recorded in hotels, residences and classified tourist clubs, in the first quarter of 2017 in Agadir, reached 985 thousand 470 nights compared to 818 thousand 374 nights during the similar period of last year, according to figures published by the Agadir Souss Massa regional tourism council.
Germany leads the source markets with 235,691 tourist nights, an increase of 76.50% compared to the first quarter of 2016 (133,533 tourist nights), followed by France with 215,208 tourist nights compared to 176,288 tourist nights in the first quarter of 2016, an increase of 22.8%.
The number of tourist nights of tourists from different Moroccan cities increased by 12.16% with 138,153 tourist nights occupying 3rd place, compared to 123,171 tourist nights in the first quarter of last year, followed by British tourists with 125,462 tourist nights, an increase of 7.61% compared to the similar period of 2016 with 116 thousand 589 tourist nights.
In terms of classification by tourist accommodation unit in the first quarter of 2017 in Agadir, hotels classified 4 stars come in first position with 322 thousand 605 tourist nights, followed by tourist clubs (308 thousand 733 tourist nights), hotels classified 5 stars (215 thousand 771 tourist nights), classified tourist residences (73 thousand 143 tourist nights).
