This is the hotel where King Mohammed VI resides in Cuba
ROYAL HOLIDAYS – Since last Friday, King Mohammed VI and his family have been in Cuba to spend a few days of vacation. According to the local press, the sovereign will stay with his wife Lalla Salma and his two children, Lalla Khadija and Moulay El Hassan, on the island Cayo Santa Maria, in the Jardines del Rey archipelago (editor’s note, the King’s Gardens).
This 21 square kilometer tourist island, located in the north of Cuba, has thirteen hotels by the sea, the first of which opened its doors at the end of 2001.
Before landing on Cayo Santa Maria, the royal family would have stayed in Havana, in the Saratoga hotel, says the local news site Cibercuba.com.As shown in the photos below, a special security system was put in place for the occasion around the establishment.
The visit of the royal family to Cuba, a country close to the Polisario Front, is a first. Diplomatic relations between the kingdom and Cuba were in fact severed 37 years ago, in 1980. Today, Morocco does not have diplomatic representation in the archipelago.
