Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca welcomes the Emirates A380

According to Orhan Abbas, this new A380 service further strengthens the long-standing tourism and commercial relationship that Emirates and the United Arab Emirates share withMorocco.

The iconic double-decker plane of the Emirates airline landed for the first time on Moroccan soil. The Airbus A380 has just made its first flight to Morocco, Sunday March 26, 2017, making Casablanca the first city in North Africa to be served by this plane from the Emirates airline. With the inauguration of this flight, the airline expands the network of destinations served by its very popular A380. On board this inaugural flight, greeted by water cannons, was a delegation of senior executives from Dubai and Emirates, led by Orhan Abbas, vice president of commercial operations for Africa. Once on the ground, a group of VIPs, airport executives and media were given a guided tour of the aircraft.

Through this guided tour, this group had the opportunity to discover the innovations offered to passengers on board. This line which will connect Casablanca to Dubai was established after“15 years of continuous and successful service on the Casablanca-Dubai line. It is entirely appropriate that we have introduced our iconic aircraft the A380 to Morocco. This new A380 service further strengthens the long-standing tourism and commercial relationship that Emirates and the United Arab Emirates share with Morocco,” explains Orhan Abbas. An important step for Emirates’ operations towards Casablanca, but also essential to their overall strategy. As a reminder, Emirates began its operations in Casablanca in March 2002 with three flights per week. Services have gradually increased with an increase in frequency and capacity between Casablanca and Dubai to meet commercial demand. Hence the introduction of the A380, with its capacity of 491 passengers. The introduction of this aircraft will also allow its passengers to experience the state-of-the-art comfort and product features on board an Emirates A380.

Emirates is the largest user of the Airbus A380 and has carried more than 69 million passengers on its flagship aircraft since 2008. Emirates is also the largest customer of the A380, with more than 50 orders awaiting delivery. In addition to this, to date, Emirates has introduced A380 services to 45 destinations across its network. Its current fleet of 93 A380s has visited 66 airports, flown more than 1.06 billion kilometers and completed 78,032 return flights.
