This position was expressed in a joint communiqué published at the end of the work of the third session of the Morocco-Gambia Joint Cooperation Commission, co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Mamadou Tangara. In this joint statement, the head of Gambian diplomacy reiterated his country’s unwavering support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco. Recalling the opening of a Consulate General of the Gambia in Dakhla in January 2020, Mr. Tangara also reaffirmed his country’s support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative, presented by the Kingdom in 2007, which constitutes the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution of this dispute. In this sense, he expressed the firm support of the Republic of Gambia in the search for a lasting solution preserving the territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the exclusive aegis of the United Nations.
