Morocco outclasses Egypt
Egypt, which was the leading tourist destination on a continental scale, recorded nearly 15.7 million tourists at the end of 2024 compared to 15.9 million tourists for Morocco at the end of November.
In 2024, Morocco will overtake Egypt to become the leading tourist destination in Africa. The Nile country, which had held this position for a long time, recorded around 15.7 million tourists during the year. On the other hand, Morocco welcomed 15.9 million foreign visitors at the end of November, according to official figures relayed by the Ecofin agency, citing Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. This performance places the Kingdom at the top of the continent’s tourist destinations. The month of December, considered a high season for the tourism sector, should further improve Morocco’s results. Professionals estimate that the total number of visitors could reach, or even exceed, 16 million at the end of 2024. This success demonstrates Morocco’s rise in the tourism sector, strengthening its attractiveness and stature on an international scale.
