ONOMO Hotels is celebrating its 10th anniversary by preparing for the future with ambitious development plans on the African Continent. The year 2019 saw the opening of 8 new hotels in 4 countries, notably in Morocco, South Africa, Mozambique, Cameroon and the one soon planned in Tanzania.
A decade of innovation to take African hospitality to the next level
ONOMO opened its first hotel in Dakar in 2010, then expanded to Libreville and Abidjan the following two years. To date, ONOMO Hotels has establishments in Senegal, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Mali, Togo, South Africa, Guinea, Rwanda, Morocco and Cameroon and an upcoming opening is planned in Tanzania.
“We are proud of the progress we have made, particularly the evolution of the group in 2019. At the start of the year, we had 14 hotels in 9 countries under our management,” declared Cédric Guilleminot, CEO of ONOMO Hotels. “Being able to establish, this year, hotels in new territories such as Morocco and Cameroon and opening new ones in the coming weeks in Mozambique and Tanzania, has been a great challenge and immense privilege. Seeing, after 10 years of operation, our reception capacity reaching 2,800 was a great achievement, worthy of celebration.”
ONOMO Hotels, at home everywhere
Drawing its sense of welcome from the values of the continent, the hotel group does everything possible to satisfy its customers who are part of the great ONOMO family. With a professional and passionate team, ONOMO Hotels has made hospitality an art and the training of its employees a credo. Warm, available, helpful and smiling, at ONOMO, we call them “Heartbeats”, because they are the ones who make the heart of the group beat and represent the 3 pillars which constitute the DNA of the brand:
O’smile to get off on the right foot
A sure value symbolizing hospitality and African joie de vivre, the smile at ONOMO is intended to be frank, warm and above all contagious.
O’culture, a wealth for the spirit
Concreting its desire to highlight African culture and support the continent’s talents, ONOMO hotels are increasing partnerships with local artists through painting exhibitions, fashion shows, private concerts, book signings, among others. Africa is full of talent and creativity and the ONOMO group intends to make its contribution by supporting them.
O´Taste, delight the palates What would a stay be without culinary discovery? “To welcome is also to nourish” this is why the group’s hotels offer original Afro-fusion cuisine with fresh market products. The restaurants of ONOMO hotels are open to all, you can meet there with friends or colleagues around a menu of unique cocktails and tapas with Afro-fusion accents, which give pride of place to local products. Local and international specialties come together, with freshness, seasonality and creativity as the watchwords.
ONOMO Africa’s Finest: When magic happens…
Since its creation, ONOMO Hotels has integrated the best of the creativity and know-how of African artisans and designers into the architecture and design of its offer. By partnering with local resources and sourcing from local suppliers and artisans, the group has become a driver of regional economic development. This has allowed it to create job opportunities and thus have a positive impact wherever it is located.
Under the ‘Africa’s Finest’ brand, ONOMO Hotels will celebrate African culture and help raise awareness of it. Senegalese designer Adama Paris, founder of Dakar Fashion Week, opened the first SAARGALE brand store at ONOMO Casablanca City Center with openings planned in all ONOMO hotels. Ivorian Pastry Chef Moulaye Fanny will also present his vision of culinary arts at ONOMO hotels, organizing workshops and recreating traditional desserts from each region, with a contemporary twist. On November 9, the Chef’s first culinary meeting was held at ONOMO Hotel Lomé, during which he presented the revisited version of one of the must-haves of Togolese street food: Botokoin, named for the occasion « Denyigban », the land of our ancestors in the Ewe language.
ONOMO Hotels, continued commitment to the Continent
By the end of this year, ONOMO will have 20 hotels in operation, in 11 countries on the continent for a total of 2,800 rooms.
The group will continue its development on the continent in 2020 by further consolidating its presence in its historic markets but also by exploring new regions, with the ambition of becoming the first Pan-African hotel group in the midscale segment.
