Tourism: Morocco displays its ambitions
Moroccan tourism has a bright future ahead of it. From the innovative approach adopted to develop the strategic roadmap for the tourism sector for the period 2023-2026, which places the tourist at the heart of the experience, with nine thematic sectors designed to offer enriching experiences to the modernization of infrastructure, improvement of air connectivity, investments in tourism and entertainment, as well as the training of qualified human resources, Moroccan tourism is beginning a new shift, reports the magazine L’Observateur du Maroc and of Africa.
This Moroccan tourism strategy is bearing fruit. In 2023, Morocco welcomed 14.5 million tourists, an increase of 34% compared to 2022, which allowed the country to move from 34th place in the world in 2019 to 22nd place in 2023. The kingdom is even close to reaching its objective of one million additional tourists for 2024: already 909,000 additional visitors welcomed in just six months. 7.4 million visitors set foot on Moroccan soil at the end of 2024, an increase of 14% compared to 2023 and a spectacular jump of 38% compared to 2019, according to the Ministry of Tourism. All in all, the Moroccan tourism strategy is underway.
