British tourism giant Thomas Cook promotes Morocco destination
British tourism giant Thomas Cook is confident in the growth potential of the Morocco destination, very popular with tourists from the United Kingdom.
During the “World Travel Market 2017” (WTM), one of the largest tourism fairs in the world, which is being held in London from November 6 to 8, Thomas Cook, one of the major tour operators in the world, agreed to increase the influx of British tourists to Morocco from 70,000 tourists currently to more than 400,000 tourists over the next three years. The partnership concluded with the British group at the WTM Show “testifies to the great confidence” that Morocco enjoys among foreign investors and tourism professionals around the world, said ONMT Director General Abderrafie Zouiten.
The partnership sealed with Thomas Cook comes in addition to agreements previously concluded with other tour operators and reference groups with a view to attracting more tourists to Morocco, he added. “Our ambition is to reach the mark of one million British tourists in the next two years”, said Mr. Zouiten, emphasizing the importance of the British market in the ONMT’s strategy. This growing market has experienced “very positive” developments in recent years, supported by the increase in air services between Morocco and the United Kingdom, which increased by around fifty weekly flights in 2012 to reach 90 flights currently, he said.
