Hyatt announces the opening of two new hotels in Morocco by 2020
HOTELRY – The Hyatt group has announced the upcoming opening of nine new hotels on the African continent by the end of 2020, including two in Morocco. These two new establishments will bring the number of Hyatt hotels in Morocco to four.
The hotel group will open the Park Hyatt Marrakech in 2020 and the Hyatt Regency Taghazout is planned for the third quarter of 2019. The two complexes will join the Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay and Hyatt Regency Casablanca.
The group emphasizes that the upcoming opening of Park Hyatt Marrakech will bring a “luxury experience” to the Al Maaden residential project. The 181-room hotel will feature a resort and a Moroccan-inspired 18-hole golf course designed by award-winning golf course designer Kyle Phillips. Architects Didier Lefort, Eduardo Gaggiano, Cheong Yew Kuan and Patrick Genard will collaborate on the design of the project.
Located in a popular seaside area in the region, Hyatt Regency Taghazout will be the brand’s second hotel in this fishing village north of Agadir, alongside Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay.
The hotel, which will extend over an area of 45 hectares facing the beach, will include 205 rooms and will be part of a large project including residential units, an 18-hole golf course, a beach club, a shopping center, a tennis academy and a spa and surf camp. The hotel will offer a variety of restaurants, including a specialty restaurant and a pool bar, the group said.
Of the nine new hotels planned on the African continent, five are market entries: Hyatt Regency Airport in Algiers, Algeria, Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Hyatt Place Nairobi Westlands and Hyatt House Nairobi Westlands, both in Kenya, and finally Hyatt Centric Dakar in Senegal.
“Africa, and particularly East Africa, remains a focus for Hyatt with an increasingly favorable business climate and increased tourism spending,” the group said in a statement.
In addition to Morocco, Egypt and Tanzania will also see the expansion of the brand on their territory. Thus, the Hyatt Regency Cairo West will be the second Hyatt hotel in Egypt and will mark the group’s return to the Egyptian capital. Hyatt Regency Arusha Tanzania will sign the brand’s third hotel in the country.
“Strengthening our existing hotel presence in East African capitals has enabled Hyatt to continue to grow our brand across the rest of the continent,” said Takuya Aoyama, Hyatt vice president of development for Europe, Africa and the Middle East in the release.
