The Amzmiz region in the province of Al Haouz was shaken today, Tuesday, January 13, by a residual earthquake felt by a large number of residents around 3:31 p.m.
This event caused concern and apprehension among the population, given the seismic sensitivity of the area. Many residents, relaying their testimonies on social networks, described the tremor as being of medium strength, reminiscent of the powerful earthquake that hit the province previously, which sparked fears of new aftershocks in the days to come.
This earthquake is part of the series of residual tremors recorded in certain areas of Al Haouz, generally interpreted as a release of the energy accumulated in the basement after major earthquakes.
It should be remembered that Amzmiz was among the areas most affected by the earthquake of September 8, which caused significant human and material damage and destroyed several homes and infrastructures, thus leading the population to remain vigilant in the face of each new tremor
To date, no human loss or material damage has been reported following this latest tremor, pending official data from the competent authorities to provide the necessary technical details and clarifications.
