Les Ateliers de Tétouan », talent incubators: 10 Mediterranean cinematographic projects in competition before an international jury to stimulate production and creation

Mustapha ELABYAD

Activities of the 30th edition of the Tetouan Festival of Mediterranean Cinema reached their climax on Wednesday, October 27, 2025, with the program of « Tétouan Workshops », an initiative designed to support feature film projects, whether fiction or documentaries.

Ten young screenwriters and directors, representing several Mediterranean countries, presented their carefully selected cinematographic projects in front of a high-level international jury. These ten projects were chosen from 138 applications, which testifies to the quality of the ideas submitted.

These workshops, now in their third edition, aim to bridge the gap between theoretical creation and professional application, by offering a comprehensive platform for training, networking and artistic development, particularly in the area of pitching projects to producers.

The jury was composed of influential figures, including Layali Badr (writer and screenwriter), Mohamed Noureddine Affaya (academician and researcher), Christoph Toke (German producer), and Ignacio Vileta (Spanish director), Mohamed Noureddine Affaya affirmed that these workshops represent « a rich, useful and unique experience », and confirm the Festival’s commitment to “root aesthetic and intellectual choices”, emphasizing that cinema remains a real means of changing reality and forging human connections.

For his part, Abdel Latif Al Bazi, from the management of the Festival, indicated that these workshops constitute the highest level of “cinephilia”, because they encourage production and creation, and allow young creators to realize their artistic ideas through direct meetings with cinema professionals.
