Tourism: Morocco continues to seduce the French (ONMT)
From September 25 to 28, 2018, the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) is organizing Moroccan participation in the 40th edition of the International French Travel Market Exhibition (IFTM Top Résa) at the “Paris Expo – Porte de Versailles” exhibition center.
In a favorable tourism context, France has for years positioned itself as the main country sending tourists to the Kingdom. Moroccan participation will be focused on promoting the destination Morocco and the richness of its products with a view to maintaining the improvement and popularity enjoyed by this destination among French travelers and tour operators.
A benchmark event dedicated to an informed audience made up mainly of tourism professionals, the IFTM Top Résa show has been the leader in the ranking of the most prominent tourism shows in France and around the world for four decades. Multi-target exhibition covering all reasons for travel, namely leisure, events, business and group travel, the IFTM Top Résa brings together more than 1,000 travel agents and more than 300 international business buyers each year with a total of more than 30,000 visitors distributed as follows:
-36% leisure distributors
-18% leisure buyers
-30% business and event buyers
-16% other cross-functional tourism functions).
So many assets that make the IFTM Top Résa an essential event to maintain and boost the improvement currently experienced by the Morocco destination in France.
Indeed, after a clear decline recorded in 2015 and due to an unfavorable geopolitical context, arrivals of French foreign tourists (excluding binationals) increased by 11%. With a record total of 3,533,000 in terms of overall arrivals of French tourists recorded in 2017, Morocco is currently positioned at the top of non-European destinations for French tourists. This progression is explained by the relative economic recovery that France experienced during 2017 and especially by the increase and diversification of air transport services from all French regions to Morocco over the last two years.
Among the new features, there is the launch by Easyjet of the lines: Toulouse/Marrakech (3 flights/week), Lyon/Agadir (2 flights/week); Bordeaux/Essaouira (2 flights/week). Note also the launch by Air-Arabia of the Basel-Mulhouse/Agadir line (1 flight/week). For its part, Transavia shows a 30% growth in its capacities for 2018 thanks in particular to the success encountered by the Paris/Dakhla (1 flight/week), Paris/Rabat (3 flights/week) and Casablanca/Nantes (3 flights/week) lines.
Moroccan participation in IFTM Top Résa 2018 is in line with the communication and public relations actions put in place by the ONMT to ensure Morocco has a regular presence in thematic shows, but also in traditional media, as well as digital media and social media. It will revolve around the traditional themes which have made the success of the Morocco destination in recent years. Namely the art of welcoming and Moroccan hospitality, the rich gastronomy and the ancestral know-how of our artisans. These themes will be presented on a Moroccan stand with an area of 252 square meters which will see the presence of 24 Moroccan co-exhibitors representing the main public and private players in the national tourism industry.
